Nine months ago I approached the Katoomba Library to take out a subscription to Green Left.

After all, the corporate papers were all available, as was the Koori Mail. Why not GL, I asked?

After they refused, I started a petition campaign asking why a public library would make a political decision about what they make available.

One hundred and twenty people signed the petition for GL to be made available in the library.

After Blue Mountains Mayor Mark Greenhill told me he reads GL, I phoned the other councillors and wrote to some of them.

Finally, on April 23, a librarian called they had decided to subscribe. GL will now be available in the Katoomba Library.
