Supporters of Market Forces and Tipping Point members visited Japanese import/export conglomerate Itochu Corporation on July 10 to deliver a letter urging it against investing in Whitehaven Coal.

Whitehaven Coal is Australia’s biggest operation: it is seeking to extend its operations to mine an extra million tonnes of coal a year at Maules Creek Mine near Narrabri in north west New South Wales.

Japanese activists supported our action which included wearing koala masks to emphasise the Maules Creek mine’s destruction of their habitat.
