Online human rights forum

The National Human Rights Consultation Committee now has an online discussion forum where your views can be considered in its community consultation process.

It is the first publicly funded online discussion forum where comments are published in real-time without being screened and censored by public servants first.

Acknowledging widespread criticisms of the consultation's terms of reference, which preclude any recommendations for an Australian bill of rights, committee chair Father Frank Brennan blogs: "I would like to emphasise that the Committee welcomes all views on all aspects of the human rights bill or charter debate."

In addition to the original three key consultation questions, a fourth has been added: Should Australia have a statutory bill or charter of rights? Visit www.openforum.com.au/NHROC to take part in the forum.
