According to the Palestine National Information Centre's May 30 report on the Al Asqa Intifada, 4032 Palestinians, 750 of them children have died since September 2000. Of the total deaths, 732 were caused by Israeli shelling of Palestinian homes. Another 131 people died at military checkpoints after ambulances or cars transferring them to hospital were delayed. In addition, 50 Palestinians, over the past four years, have been killed by illegal Israeli settlers. Almost 5000 of the injured were children on their way to or from school, fired upon by Israeli soldiers. The PNIC report also noted that there are currently 8500 Palestinians being detained in Israeli jails, 330 of them children. According to an April PNIC report, since the beginning of the "peace process" in February, Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly violated the cease-fire. In one week alone, the Israeli occupation forces had committed 342 violations, including incursions into Palestinian cities, erection of flying checkpoints and the expropriation and destruction of land.
