Aboriginal cultural centre opened

@box text intro = BENDIGO — An Aboriginal cultural centre, "One Dream Time", has been established here with the aim of bringing cultural awareness to the city. The centre intends to promote Aboriginal culture through bus tours, conventions and festivals and in local and surrounding schools.
One Dream Time started as a dance group. Now the centre offers traditional Aboriginal art and craft, local dance and stories, bush tucker and lessons on the didgeridoo.
"Real Australian history should be told — not just Captain Cook, but the fact that Australia is really owned by Aboriginal people", said manager Roger Bysouth.
"It needs to be opened up to the wider community that we are here every day of the year, not just one", he said, referring to the recent National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Commemoration.
