ADELAIDE — On September 3, a group of activists responded to a call by the Democratic Socialist Party and Resistance to protest outside the Adelaide Remand Centre.

A number of refugees are being held there awaiting trial on charges relating to the mass protest at Woomera detention camp on August 28. Chanting "Ruddock is the criminal, refugees are not", the lively protest marched around the remand centre.

On September 4, five detainees appeared in court charged with minor offences, including damaging a chair. They were remanded until September 12. DSP activists protested outside the court in solidarity with the refugees.

The DSP and Resistance will mobilise in support of the refugees outside the hearing on September 12.
