PERTH — The recent formation of a Liberal-National government in WA has caused the "Say No to GMO" campaign to plan a public rally on October 30 to oppose the conservative parties' declared support for GM crops.

There is massive opposition to the new government's pro-GM policies from farming and consumer groups. During the rally, "farmers will be driving their trucks up St Georges Terrace and we will all gather outside parliament house to demand a 10-year moratorium on the growing of GM crops and clear labelling and testing of GM foods", Janet Grogan, coordinator of The Network of Concerned Consumers, told Green Left Weekly.
