Why

Richard Marles and Christopher Pyne—current and former Defence Ministers—are in town on Wednesday at a panel hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia (AmCham). The panel also includes Richard Price from Defence SA, and Christine Zeitz from arms firm Northrop Grumman.

AmCham has given the event the catchy title 'How to defuse the “Exploding Suitcase of Challenges"'. It's all about the future of the arms and related industries in Australia, which looks pretty rosy for them, even as it puts the population at risk.

The panel follows the release of the Defence Strategic Review, and the confirmation that half a trillion dollars or more is available for nuclear submarines under the AUKUS pact. The Review advocates putting more and more precious resources into preparing for war with China, while welfare, health, housing, education and the environment are crying out for funds.

Join No Nuclear Subs SA to say no to war, no to AUKUS and no to nuclear submarines. Let's tell Marles (also Deputy PM) and his mates that we reject profiting from destruction, and want a future where the real needs of people and the planet get the funding they deserve.

This event takes place on Tarntanya, on the stolen land of the Kaurna people.
