Why
Art with heart Blue Mtns 4 Palestine is a community art exhibition, art sale and art workshops, co-woven by over 40 artists from unceded Dharug and Gundungurra land and beyond, to raise funds for Community Care Kitchen and Palestinian Christians in Australia. Both organisations are working tirelessly to support displaced Palestinians from Gaza who have arrived in Western Sydney. Palestinian refugees are not yet eligible for humanitarian visas. They are here on visitor visas and therefore dependent on community-led support.
The event is endorsed by Mountains for Palestine, Families for Palestine and Blue Mountains Refugee Support Group.
Artists donating work include Blake Prize Winner, @eddie.abd, Fisher’s Ghost finalist, @harolddavidstudio; @emil.hunt, who has a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW later this month; Palestinian artist, @dana.albattrawi; Award winning First Nations artist and illustrator, @ledden_lewis_art and artists from @refugeeartproject , to name a handful of the talent who’ll have on art display / for sale. All works will be sold at $200 each, a steal when the work of these artists sells for thousands in their respective galleries.
The exhibition is from 2-4pm on Saturday the 29th June at the little white church hall at 123-125 Wentworth Street, Blackheath, 2785. There will also be art workshops for the whole family run by @ledden_lewis_art @_yumi_takahashi_ and @yesterday.store. Come along and collect art for a good cause, get creative in the workshops and gather with our Blue Mountainous creative community in compassion and action for Palestinian refugees.
