Cult Movie: Vlad the Impaler — Commissioned by Nicolae Ceaucescu to dispel myths associating Vlad with Dracula, Doru Nastase's film depicts the 15th century Romanian ruler as harsh but just and argues that his habit of impaling his enemies on posts was regrettable but necessary. SBS, 9.30pm, Saturday, October 22.

Godzilla — In this 1957 classic, a prehistoric dinosaur emerges from the sea and proceeds to devastate Tokyo. SBS, 12.30pm, Sunday, October 23.

The Cutting Edge: The Fire the Next Time — Initiated after the Rodney King verdict and 1992 civil unrest in America, this documentary looks at the underlying social problems at work in south central Los Angeles. It includes interviews with Dr Betty Shabazz, Malcolm X's widow, and Andrew Young, the former mayor of Atlanta. SBS, 8.30pm, Tuesday, October 25.
