The Desired Number — Two women film-makers, one from India and one from Nigeria, offer their perspectives on population issues and examine the interlocking issues of reproductive rights, status of women, population control and economic development. The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power — The murder of Ken Saro-Wiwa is just the latest in the atrocities that have been committed in capitalism's lust for oil. This series details the history of oil. Oil has dominated foreign and domestic politics of many countries, shaken the world economy, started wars and dictated their outcome. ABC TV, Tuesday, December 5, 10.05pm. Darwin — An affectionate portrait of Charles Darwin directed by Peter Greenaway. SBS, Thursday, December 7, 8.30pm. Kam Yan — The first in a 10-part series from the ABC TV Aboriginal Programs Unit. The series will introduce ordinary people from a diverse range of indigenous Australian communities, who tell their stories and their concerns. ABC TV, Wednesday, December 6, 10.30pm.
