The Cultural Dissent Alternative Culture Fund is a non-profit cultural organisation which aims to promote alternative culture in all fields of media.
Cultural Dissent promotes alternative music through a range of performances it sponsors in cities across Australia. It has also promoted song writing and performance workshops.
Cultural Dissent has also supported alternative cultural action with a series of workshops it ran in 1993 for community activists. A "train the trainer" video of the results of that course is available for $25.
Readers may be aware that Cultural Dissent also supports the review section of Green Left Weekly. Funding from Cultural Dissent makes this very important part of Green Left possible.
Like Green Left itself, Cultural Dissent does not receive large sums of money from the government or business. Apart from the limited income it receives from its own events, Cultural Dissent relies on donations from those sympathetic to dissenting culture.
Every donation of $2 or more to Cultural Dissent is tax deductible. With June 30 approaching fast, it might be the right time to consider a donation to the works of Cultural Dissent.
Donations may be sent to Cultural Dissent, c/- PO Box 394, Broadway 2007. Green Left Weekly — it's your paper.
