MELBOURNE — Kino Dendy Cinemas are to present a special screening of award-winning journalist John Pilger's new documentary The New Rulers of The World, together with The Timor Conspiracy: Death of a Nation, on December 11. Both films will be introduced by the filmmaker, who will also conduct a question and answer session at the conclusion.

The screening is being presented in association with the Reporting the World: John Pilger's Great Eyewitness Photographers exhibition, which opens at the Melbourne Museum in December.

The New Rulers of The World explores the impact of globalisation, taking Indonesia as his prime example, a country that the World Bank described as a "model pupil" until its "globalised" economy collapsed in 1998. Under scrutiny are the increasingly powerful multinational corporations and the institutions that back them, notably the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

Reporting the World: John Pilger's Great Eyewitness Photographers will be on display from December 11 to March 10, 2003 in the Australia Gallery, Melbourne Museum, Carlton Gardens.

The special screening is at 6pm, December 11, at the Kino Dendy Cinemas, 45 Collins Street, Melbourne. Bookings are recommended. Tickets cost $25 Adult/$20 for Museum Victoria Members and Kino/Club Dendy Members.
