Film Screening and community dinner: Cathy Come Home
Arts, culture & social functions
When
6:00pm Saturday 27 January
Why
Cathy Come Home, by Ken Loach, director of I, Daniel Blake, follows a young couple in the UK in 1960s. Cathy and Reg deal with sudden unemployment, lack of affordable housing, extremely inadequate welfare payments, and rigid, underfunded support services.
It is the story of how poor people experience judgement and punishment for being poor, instead of dignity and justice. Sound familiar?
