Friends of Cuba held actions in Perth and Canberra on September 14, kicking off an international campaign to win the release of five Cuban anti-terrorists sentenced to long prison terms in the United States on September 12, 10 years ago.

The five — Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labanino and Rene Gonzalez —infiltrated Miami-based anti-Cuba terrorist groups to monitor plots against the Cuban Revolution. Calling for the immediate release of the five Cubans, the demonstrators in front of the US Consulate in Perth and in downtown Canberra released five doves.
