Global Action Radio goes national
BY ANNE O'CASEY
MELBOURNE — People around Australia can now find out about the latest debates and news in the lead up to the September 11 protests against the World Economic Forum here. The Global Action Radio program, broadcast on community radio 3CR, has gone national.
The half-hour show promises to "give you more world and less bank". It allows a broad range of left activists and commentators to explain the realities of "globalisation" and to explore alternatives to it.
Past shows have featured the "beginners guide to the World Economic Forum" and Third World debt, exposed companies inside the WEF, including Nike and Microsoft, provided information on tours by international speakers like Indonesian trade unionist Romawaty Sinaga and Indian ecofeminist Vandana Shiva, and spread news of events and the activities of groups.
Future shows will examine the fight back against global capital in the Third World, interviews with the people behind the various S11 web sites and details of what to expect if you come to Melbourne for the mass blockade and much more.
Global Action Radio goes to air in Melbourne every Friday, 8-8.30am, on 3CR (855khz). Phone your local community radio station to find out broadcast times in your area. If they have not scheduled it, encourage them to do so.
