Government blamed

Twenty conservationists occupied the Eden office of the NSW Forestry Commission (State Forests) on February 15 to focus attention on those responsible for the decision to target high conservation value compartments which are under a logging moratorium.

Simon Clarke, a spokesperson for the South East Forests Conservation Council, said, "Too much blame has been placed on loggers due to the recent violence in our forests. The real culprits are the NSW state government and State Forests, who care nothing for the environmental values of our forests or local communities that need a truly sustainable industry ... The workers are being used by representatives of large companies who incite them to violence for their own purposes."
