The Australian Anti-AUKUS Coalition is coordinating a nationwide media statement against AUKUS, the nuclear submarine deal and war preparations aimed at China around the one year anniversary of AUKUS being announced on September 16.
It is seeking 1000 signatures, from individuals and organisations, to call on the Australian government to ask for peace and security for the nation and the region.
Its specific focus is to advise that Australia will not be involved in a war against China over Taiwan, or disputed territorial waters in the South China Sea, or any other country, and we will not allow use of Australian territory for that purpose.
It also calls on Australia to sign and ratify the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and to cancel the acquisition of nuclear-propelled submarines as part of AUKUS war preparations.
It states that these funds must be spent on urgent social needs including climate change mitigation, education, health including public hospitals and housing.
