Why

The Kurdish Democratic Community Centre, alongside the Patriotic Association of Kurdistan, will be hosting Behrouz Boochani for a night of conversation and Q&A. With the ongoing revolution in Iran and Rojhelat, the situation of both Kurds and Iranian's in the Middle East remains volatile, and with that, spaces are openning for an influx of radical ideas to form a new future for these groups.

Months of revolution in Iran and Rojhelat have enshrined Zin Ziyan Azadi (Women Life Freedom), a Kurdish slogan, as a centerpiece of struggle against the fascist Islamc Regime. In this time, both the Turkish government and the Islamic Regime have continued to bomb Bashur, demonstrating how even a semi-autonomous status for Kurds can't prevent them from being victims to these states.

Meanwhile, Kurds in Rojava continue to defend their right for self-determination against the invasion of the Turkish state. In Bakur, the situation remains the most volatiale, as an increasing fascist Turkish state continues to deny many basic human rights for the Kurds.

So hear Behrouz Boochani, world-renowned author of books ''No Friends but the Mountains'' and his latest "Freedom only Freedom" touch on the issues that Kurds face in this region, and what the revolution in Rojhelat and Iran could change for them. The event will be on Saturday the 11th of February, at the Kurdish Community Centre at 36 Fawkener Road, Pascoe Vale, from 7-9pm
