June 30

That magic date is again approaching. The end of the financial year looms menacingly in the near distance. And with it stand Green Left's creditors, ready to pounce on the paper and demand their pound of flesh.

It is perhaps ironic that a paper which opposes the fact that information should be a commodity, is nevertheless trapped within the system of commodity exchange. Without money to fund our operations, we cannot continue.

The end of the financial year is the most difficult time for Green Left. This is the one time of the year when all our creditors demand payment at the same time.

As we approach June 30, we can safely say that Green Left's continued production is not threatened. Over the four and a half years of production, we have strengthened our financial situation. Nevertheless, it will not be easy for us to raise the extra funds needed in time.

Perhaps you can help? Perhaps you have a few extra dollars you could donate to the Green Left Weekly fund appeal. We rely on the generous support of our readers to continue throughout the year. At June 30, this support becomes critical.

Every donation will help. Even $5 will make a difference. Liberating the news from the media monopolies is an expensive business, but where would we be without it? Green Left Weekly — it's your newspaper. n
