Protesters took to Sydney's streets on April 17 to support trans people's rights and oppose moves by NSW MLC Mark Latham to make it illegal for schools to teach inclusiveness and respect.

Latham is a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party. His bill threatens to wind back hard fought for trans rights and, if passed, it would put trans kids at risk.

The rally was organised by Community Action for Rainbow Rights.

At Taylor Square in Darlinghurst, Greens MLC David Shoebridge accepted a petition with more than 113,000 people opposing the bill.

Last year, Latham tabled his Education Legislation Amendment (Parental Rights) Bill prohibiting teachers from educating students about trans or gender-diverse people and prohibiting school counsellors from providing a trans or gender-diverse students with any support, for fear of losing their job.

After an energetic march to NSW Parliament, the crowd chanted a promise to return to the streets on June 5.
