Los Angeles streets were swarmed by the thousands of protesters on November 12 as Hollywood was taken by storm by a march inspired by the #MeToo Twitter campaign.
In support of victims of sexual assault and harassment, thousands of demonstrators marched, pausing in front of CNN’s headquarters.
The #MeToo march followed an ongoing series of accusations by men and women of harassment and assault by figures in the entertainment industry.
Tarana Burke, who initiated the “Me Too” slogan years before the current campaign, said that although awareness for crimes of sexual harassment has created a strong foundation for change, there is still much to be done.
“For every Harvey Weinstein, there’s 100 more men in the neighbourhood who are doing the exact same thing,” Burke said. “The conversation around harassment in Hollywood will broaden to include other industries if we force it to.”
