NZ Alliance tops Labour

The latest National Business Review-Consultus poll in New Zealand, published on April 22, shows the steady rise of the progressive Alliance continuing.

The Alliance now tops the Labour Party and trails National, the governing party, by only three points.

If an election had been held in early April under the new multi-member proportional representative voting system, the poll found National with 33% support followed by the Alliance on 30%, Labour 24% and New Zealand First 9%.

At the general election last year the Alliance received 18% of the vote; it has climbed consistently since then, gaining its increased support mostly at the expense of Labour.
