#ProtectProtest - A National Information Session + Call to Action

Conferences & public forums
Online

When

7:00pm Thursday 16 March

Why

States are cracking down on peaceful protest and ramping up repression around the world. Australia is not immune. Peaceful protestors are being subjected to anti-democratic, bipartisan anti-protest laws, police brutality, home raids, onerous bail conditions, exorbitant fines and prison. Peaceful protestors are being harassed by police for potentially thinking about protest!

Think this won't affect you? Think again.

Anti-protest laws don’t just affect activists who lock-on, block roads or hang off fossil fuel infrastructure. They affect everyone from the labour movement to Invasion Day demonstrators, school strikers to Mardi Gras organisers. Anti-protest laws are a threat to democracy itself. Human rights, civil society and legal organisations have condemned the crackdown and are working hard to challenge it. Grassroots movements and trade unions are mobilising.

If we stand together we can win. Join us for a national information session on the state of play across the continent and how together we must #ProtectProtest.
