Island Exiles — Stories from the people of the Pacific island of Nauru describe their survival during three years of occupation by Japanese troops and their willingness to fight for their economic and human rights. ABC Radio National, Thursday, April 25, 2.05pm

Missing Country — During the early 1980s, a general was asked why NATO forces had chosen Scotland's Galloway coast for a huge military training exercise. "Because it's the nearest we can get to Third World conditions", he replied. North Sea oil should have ensured a different story, but Scotland has remained England's ragged northern neighbour. Prize-winning author James Kelman reflects on what happens when a people is ruled from another country. ABC Radio National, Saturday, April 26, 3.30pm.

For the Love of your own Mother — The moving and terrible story of how the children of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were taken by state authorities. Clara Jackamarra vividly remembers and describes the day a man in black persuaded her to go for a ride in a boat. Clara was taken away from her parents at the age of six and brought up at a mission. Mick Dalgety tells a similar story of police being sent to the "native settlement" to take him away like a "stray sheep". For most of this century, it was policy that full blood indigenous people must die out, and the stealing of children was aimed at speeding up the process. ABC Radio National, Sunday, April 28, 8.30pm.

Radio FBi 96.9 FM — Sydney's newest public broadcaster, FBi (Free Broadcasting inc.), continues its test broadcast until May 5.
