Saturday Opera — The Fairy Queen — The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell is an adaptation of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was first performed in London in 1692. ABC Classic FM, Saturday, June 18, 2pm.

Round Midnight — Jaslyn Hall interviews Hassan Hakmoun, whose music is based in his playing of the sintir, the Moroccan three-stringed bass. ABC Radio National, Saturday, June 18, 9.05pm.

Behind the Violence — This is a series of educational radio documentaries about violence against women. Produced for both men and women, the series presents a unique window into everyday experiences of violence and questions widespread public attitudes towards violence against women. Each program offers ideas which encourage discussion and suggests ways in which people can respond to violence in society. Produced by 2SER-FM for national broadcast on community radio stations. Check your local station for details. The first in the series is A Violent Society, which looks at the widespread nature, and challenges the common understanding, of violence. 2SER-FM, Monday, June 20, 8pm.

Democracy and Nation — A Plain Guide to the Constitution — The Australian constitution is central to the current debate over republicanism. So what exactly does the constitution say and, importantly, what does it leave out? This program explores this and other questions. One for the early risers. ABC Radio National, Wednesday, June 22, 5.10am.

This Sporting Life — With Rampaging Roy Slaven and H.G Nelson. Probably the most incisive and wittiest three hours on radio: enjoy; Green Left Weekly staff do. Triple J-FM, every Saturday, 2pm.
