Sydney’s Radio Skid Row is a grassroots, community-driven radio station that has been a vital voice for marginalised communities since its establishment on Gadigal country in 1983.
Its mission is to provide a platform for the most underrepresented groups in society, ensuring their stories, struggles and triumphs are heard. With a steadfast commitment to social justice, it amplifies the issues that matter most to those often overlooked by mainstream media. In this way it is similar to Green Left. Indeed the paper is always on the table at the station!
Skid Row’s programming is diverse and inclusive, reflecting the rich tapestry of our community. It features a host of progressive shows like Democracy Now, Climate Action, Solidarity, Alternative Radio, Workers’ Radio and Close to Home. These programs are not only informative but also inspire action and advocacy, empowering listeners to engage with and address critical issues. Skid Row also broadcasts an activist calendar, developed in collaboration with our friends at Green Left!
