Why

Join us for dinner, movie, speakers! Come and watch cult classic Barefoot Gen anime by director Mori Masaki. This evening is organised by the Medical Association for the Prevention of War and NFWA to commemorate and reflect on the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 79 years ago.

With global conflict, political instability the growing fears and tensions around nuclear weapons continues. Come and join with like minded thoughtful crew to consider the threats and responses and how we can be part of peace making.

The evening will include a light supper, speakers including Professor Mick Broderick who has been researching and writing about nuclear themes in media and popular culture for over 40 years, author of Nuclear Movies, Hibakusha Cinema and Reconstructing Strangelove. Grab your ticket before they sell out (only 50 available!) $30 waged / $25 unwaged. Ticket includes movie and supper. Drinks will also be available to buy at the bar.
