Reworking Australia launch

The Charter of "Reworking Australia" will be launched in Sydney and Melbourne on Monday, May 3.

Reworking Australia describes itself as "a new movement committed to social and economic justice, opposition to economic rationalism, with a major focus on the jobs crisis. We are non-party political."

Groups currently exist in Melbourne and Sydney, and moves are under way to establish them in Adelaide and Brisbane.

Local groups in federal electorates will lobby MPs on the major policy changes needed to tackle the jobs crisis and will initiate other local activities. The group also plans to make ongoing comment in the media on relevant issues and to directly lobby cabinet, caucus and caucus committees.

The policies and campaign strategies of RWA will be detailed in an advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald TV Guide on May 3.

The Sydney launch will be at the Harold Park Hotel (Bistro), 115 Wigram Rd, Glebe. Speakers will include Michael Pusey, Frank Stilwell, Yvonne Preston and the Reverend Harry Herbert.

The Melbourne meeting will be at the Wesley Central Mission, 4th floor, 148 Lonsdale St. Speakers will include Senator Sid Spindler, Karen Alexander, Father Peter Norden and the Reverend Dick Wooton.

Both events begin at 10.30 a.m. Supporters are encouraged to attend.
