Why

At the end of the hottest year in human history, a Rising Tide of everyday people shut down the world’s largest coal port for 32 hours. Here’s how we did it.

Revisit the epic People’s Blockade with footage from the beach, the water, and the sky - and hear from Rising Tide organisers and blockaders about how this historic event came together.

Watch The First Wave - and get ready for the next!

Zane Alcorn and others from Rising Tide present "The First Wave". This film describes how everyday people shut down the world’s largest coal port for 32 hours.

This film will be followed by a discussion with John Seed (who was at the action in the film), a long-term environmental activist and a pivotal figure in the Deep Ecology movement. He will talk about how experiential Deep Ecology can help sweep away environmental paralysis and empower us to engage effectively to stop our slide into oblivion.

Be inspired by this short film of the 2023 Rising Tide People's Blockade of the World's Biggest Coal Port. Find out how you can be be part of the 2024 Blockade and other Rising Tide events this year.

This event is hosted by Rising Tide. Rising Tide is a grass roots climate justice group building a movement of civil resistance to the fossil fuel industrial complex for a fossil fuel free future.
