Solidarity from Indonesia
The following message was sent to the Resistance national office from the People's Democratic Party (PRD) of Indonesia.
We congratulate you on your success in mobilising young people and high school students all over Australia to protest against racism.
We give our full support and solidarity to your struggle, and we are very proud of you. The racist policy of Pauline Hanson and her One Nation Party is really ridiculous, because historically it is Aboriginal people who are the natives of Australia. But up to now, the Australian government does not recognise the rights of the Aboriginal people.
Now Hanson and her supporters feel that they are the lords and owners of the Australian land. Our answer is clear: Always, racism is the enemy of humanity!
In Indonesia we are facing something similar. The military (ABRI) often manipulates the consciousness of people by distorting their spirit of resistance against dictatorship. Everywhere, it is ABRI that creates anti-Chinese and anti-Christian riots.
Therefore we, the PRD, keep educating people that our enemy is not Chinese ethnic or Christians, but the dictatorship and all kinds of oppression and exploitation.
We and our comrades in Australia have the same mission and duty. Your struggle is our struggle.
For the sake of justice and a better world: down with Hanson and One Nation, down with racism!
On behalf of all members of the People's Democratic Party,
Sutarji (International Department)
