The Sugar Factory
The Sugar Factory is the story of a psychologically troubled young man, Harris (Matt Day) who falls in love with an older woman, Helen (Rhondda Findleton) living alone with her two children. Tragedy strikes while he is babysitting. The film examines the effect this has on his relationship with Helen and his own tenuous grip on reality.
Day and Findleton give good performances, which unfortunately highlight the inadequacies of the plot and the other characters. Not the useful study of psychological anguish it tries to be, but okay as a minor diversion.
The Sugar Factory opens in Sydney and Melbourne (check newspapers for details) on March 4.
