MELBOURNE — Community radio station 3CR is holding its annual radiothon from June 2 to June 15. This year's theme is "3CR — the voice of dissent, a voice for peace" and the station is hoping to raise $130,000.
3CR has always been supported by the trade unions and it is an important link between community activists and the union movement in Australia. 3CR's programming includes shows presented by trade unions, covering general industrial and political issues, environmental organisations and international solidarity campaigners.
3CR is independent, community-run and free of corporate sponsorship, advertising and government control. It reports disputes and issues ranging from health and safety in the workplace, rank-and-file issues and opposition to government attacks on workers and their unions, such as the building industry royal commission's attacks on the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union.
3CR needs support to stay on air. For more than 27 years, 3CR has provided volunteer-driven broadcasting. Every week, more than 400 volunteer programmers provide 24-hour coverage each day.
Thanks to the community's support and the hard work provided by this army of volunteers, 3CR will continue to be a voice of dissent and a voice for peace. Please phone (03) 9419 8377 to make a donation.
