Timorese youth tour US

A delegation of East Timorese youth toured North America in April. Delegation members Elizabeth Exposto and Danilo Henriques, who now live in Australia, told Green Left Weekly upon their return on April 28 that during the tour Indonesian authorities arrested the wife of delegation leader Constancio Pinto in East Timor in an attempt to intimidate them. However the delegation refused to be silenced, speaking to some 30 missions at the United Nations, lobbying members of the United States Congress and speaking on campuses across the country. Pictured (l. to r.) are Danilo Henriques, Maria Braz, Constancio Pinto, Elizabeth Exposto and Abe Barreto in Washington.
