The lives of two Japanese Elvis fans, an Italian woman who sees Elvis' ghost and Joe Strummer intersect in and near a seedy hotel, where the marvellously droll '50s rock and roll nutter Screamin' Jay Hawkins staffs the front desk. Close Up — Two documentaries on racism, about Radouane, a boy of Moroccan parents who live in Brussels, and Patty, an Aboriginal girl from Walgett. SBS, Monday, April 10, 6pm.

David Suzuki's The Nature of Things: Highway to Cyberia — The first episode in an eight-part series which assesses various social and environmental aspects of society, this program examines the "information superhighway" and the hype that has developed around it. SBS, Monday, April 10, 7.30pm.

Imperfect Journey — A unique insight into Ethiopia's turbulent history and the realities of the country today. SBS, Monday, April 10, 11.15pm.

Wild Sanctuaries — This episode focuses on the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. SBS, Tuesday, April 11, 8pm.

The Gene Hunters — The story of the controversial program to collect the DNA of indigenous peoples worldwide. Filmed in the remote forests of South America. SBS, Tuesday, April 11, 8.30pm.

Movie: Man of ... (1993) — Konrad Szolajski's lampoon of Polish institutions. A send-up of Andrzej Wajda's film Man of Marble, Man of Iron and Man of Ashes. SBS, Thursday, April 13, 9.30pm.

Movie: All My Good Countrymen (1968) — Life in a small Bohemian village from early 1945 to 1968. From Czechoslovakia. SBS, Thursday, April 13, 11.10pm.
