UNITED STATES: Anti-Zionist book blacklisted

Issue

Beyond Chutzpah, the new book by Jewish-American anti-Zionist Norman Finkelstein, on the misuse of anti-Semitism by Zionism, has been blacklisted by a number of bookstores in the US. The book provides a critical analysis of pro-Zionist Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz's The Case for Israel. Dershowitz, whom Finkelstein accuses of plagiarising from the discredited work of Joan Peters, petitioned both California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and the president of the University of California Press to stop Beyond Chutzpah going to publication. According to Finkelstein's website, Beyond Chutzpah has been blacklisted by the Harvard Bookstore in Cambridge and Barnes and Noble in New York. Barnes and Noble have scheduled an event with Dershowitz to promote his new book, The Case for Peace, a rebuttal of Beyond Chutzpah.
