Join us on World Children's Day as we, healthcare workers, mourn and remember all Palestinians massacred in Gaza. Our hearts deeply mourn the 6,405 Palestinian children who have been killed, and the many more wounded and traumatised by the current and ongoing genocide.
“What really breaks us is the children who are not safe and no future for them is clear” - @motaz_azaiza, Photojournalist in Gaza, 14.11.23.
We stand in sorrow and solidarity with all victims of the recent and ongoing horrific attacks on Al-Shifa Hospital, including the 39 premature babies, who are being inhumanely deprived of life-supporting equipment and medications.
Al-Shifa hospital is “nearly a cemetry” (WHO).
We stand with all Palestinian healthcare workers at Al-Shifa Hospital as they risk their lives to care for the wounded, the dying and the dead.
Since October 7th, Gaza’s healthcare system has been repeatedly attacked by Israeli military forces, leaving millions without basic healthcare and access to emergency services. We are witnessing the unfolding of a public health crisis in real-time, we bear witness and we won't forget.
As healthcare workers, we must stand with the people of Palestine. The International Code of Ethics for Nurses (2021) states “Nurses value health care as a human right, affirming the right to universal access to health care for all,” (4.1) and that we must “...uphold principles of justice by promoting responsibility in human rights, equity and fairness,” (4.7).
We call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
We call for the protection of all hospitals and healthcare services, with immediate and appropriate humanitarian and medical aid.
We call for an end to genocide.
Free Palestine.
