Laurence Goodchild writes that, in a succinct and well-researched book, Victor Figueroa Clark provides a vivid account of former Chilean president Salvador Allende’s life. Clark also provides much needed historical context to Allende’s Popular Unity government, and addresses his political strategy in a manner relevant to the contemporary “pink tide” in Latin America.
Ukraine debate dominates European Left
The main concern of ninth Summer University of the Party of the European Left held in July, was the armed conflict in Ukraine, Dick Nichols writes. Debate on the issue absorbed many sessions, including those not directly devoted to it, in an often agitated discussion among the 1000 attendees from 31 countries.
