Documentary Series: The Human Race — A four-part documentary series taking up such issues as nationalism, patriarchy, democracy and technology. The first episode, The Bomb Under the World, filmed in India, looks at the way economic forces are transforming people's lives and raising urgent questions about the prevailing economic, ecological and political models. SBS, 8.30pm, Monday, December 12.

Great Crimes and Trials of the Twentieth Century: The Ku Klux Klan Killings — Charts the rise of the Klan in the southern states and its decline in the face of a growing civil rights movement. ABC, 8pm, Tuesday, December 13.

The Cutting Edge: Enemy of the People, Friends of the Seals — Odd Lindenberg, a Norwegian film maker and environmental activist, filmed a 1989 documentary recording the clubbing of seal pups which created a worldwide controversy. This program updating the struggle includes original footage that was banned by the Norwegian government. SBS, 8.30pm, Tuesday, December 13.
