Resistance sets down plans

BRISBANE — Robby Hartono, from the People's Democratic Party of Indonesia, spoke at a Resistance branch meeting on February 8, discussing the different conditions that Australian and Indonesian activists face. He emphasised the importance of a newspaper like Green Left Weekly for activists in Australia fighting to change society.
The meeting discussed what it means to be a Resistance member and the importance of international solidarity. While the conditions of struggle in Australia are very different from those in Indonesia, it is the same profit-first system that is being fought against. The meeting looked at the tasks facing activists here.
Resistance members planned numerous activities to take place over February and March. These include several forums and speak-outs on campus, film nights and other meetings. Activists discussed plans for International Women's Day activities and building the national day of action against education funding cuts on March 26.
