Sex, money and God — for breakfast
Sex, money and God — for breakfast

MELBOURNE — How would you like sex, money and God first thing on Friday mornings? This is the question being posed by Radio Resistance, which is planning a program series highlighting these issues.
Radio Resistance coordinator Susan Price explained: "We want to take a light-hearted and intelligent look at each of these themes. We hope the shows will shake up people's views on subjects that many take for granted."
The topic of sex will be dealt with in two parts entitled "Foreplay, sex and capitalism" and "Revolutionary coming". The first show will examine the politics of the gay and lesbian communities, as well as debates around pornography and censorship. The second show will examine sexual practice and attitudes during various revolutionary periods, from Latin America to Russia.
Money, also covered in two parts, features "Rich bastards", which examines the lives of the rich and famous, including Suharto, Kerry Packer and Bill Gates. The second part, "Beyond poverty", examines options for solving the problem of escalating poverty around the world.
God gets only one show, entitled "Is she a leftie?". The show examines the religious right's attacks on abortion clinics, liberation theology and "Black Islam", from Malcolm X to the Million Man March in Washington, DC, in 1995.
Radio Resistance is presented by supporters of Green Left Weekly on Melbourne's 3CR community radio, Friday 7-7:30am, 855 AM on the dial. For more information, call Susan on (03) 9329 1320. "Sex, money and God" runs until December 18.
