Melbourne to rock against racism
MELBOURNE — An all-ages benefit gig featuring the Brolga Boys will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 13, at Melbourne's Trades Hall. The event will bring together well-known local acts, as well as several upcoming high school bands.
Gig organiser and Resistance activist Jo Williams told Green Left Weekly the event will build the growing youth movement against racism. "We expect hundreds of people to come and enjoy themselves, knowing that they are supporting the campaign against racism."
A week before the Rock Against Racism concert, Resistance is organising a "Fight Racism" protest conference. The agenda will cover topics ranging from the rise of Pauline Hanson to the legacy of Malcolm X. It will be held at the Resistance Centre, 14 Anthony Street in the city, on Saturday, September 5.
