Advance Australia — not

By Sarah Stephen

Federal minister Philip Ruddock has announced that the government has rewritten the national anthem, "Advance Australia Fair", to reflect the threats to Australians' national identity. We must all learn the new words.

Australians all let us beware
For we are under siege
From boats of hungry refugees
Who come across the seas.

Our land abounds with natures gifts
Which we will never share
So lock them up and send them home
We think its only fair.

It's not our fault that they are poor
they just don't work as hard!
Beneath our much loved Aussie flag
Some migrants we can bear
So long as they come legally
With wads of cash to spare.

As true blue Aussie battlers, all
We love our nation so
But we prefer more cows and sheep
Than population growth

We love our open spaces,
It's what makes Australia great!

To profit from their poverty
They tell us that's okay
The profits will trickle down to us
The Aussie battler way.

Cheap wages, there are cultural
It's just the Asian way
They can't expect to come in here
And take our jobs away.

Australia is the lucky country
(lucky if you get in).

Australians are tolerant
We've learned to grin and bear
For multiculturalism's taught us
To be nice to everyone.

From Kurdistan to East Timor
Your fights aren't welcome here
Australia's home of harmony
There's no class struggle here.

Let's sing aloud, we're very proud
There's no class struggle here!
