Feel the drama. Live the suspense. Experience the pure comic chaos of live-to-air radio plays (now with added pre-broadcast variety acts!) at The Studio.

After a short, sharp slap of cabaret and stand-up comedy, a star-studded cast will take to the mike and bring each play to life before your eyes and ears. Boo, hiss and laugh along with live sound effects as part of the live interactive audience.

The two plays premiering at the Sydney Opera House Studio on July 3 and 10 are sourced from a Sydney-wide FBi Radio competition to find the best young wireless wordsmiths.

The Body in the Basement is a suburban comedy written by Alex Broun (a prominent Sydney writer, producer and refugee-rights activist) and directed by Sarah Goodes. Be alert and alarmed by terrorists in the basement — a cautionary tale for neo-conservative times.

Sit on My Facets is a serious farce by Brett Danalake and Iain Triffitt, directed by Darren Weller. Join a perilous quest in search of the fabled heart of the Liberal Party. Be very afraid!

Pre-broadcast variety acts include the Connie Chung Cabaret Roadshow on July 3, and Christa Hughes (of Machine Gun Fellatio fame) and Cake (two guys performing "angry mime") on July 10.
