MELBOURNE — On August 17, 100 university students rallied outside the State Library to protest against Israel's wars on Lebanon and Gaza. The rally was called by Students Against War and Racism. The students called on the Australian government to demand the immediate withdrawal of Israeli troops from Lebanon. The rally ended with a "die-in", with demonstrators being covered in red paint to symbolise the blood of the Lebanese and Palestinian children killed by Israel. As the students lay in the street they chanted "Israel, USA how many kids have you killed today".
