On October 4, student anti-war campaigners were threatened by security guards with being kicked off the University of Technology Sydney campus.
The students had gathered for a speak-out at lunchtime to promote anti-war campaigns on campus, as well as their ticket in the UTS Student Representatives Council elections. They were told by a security guard that the space was booked and they had no right to be there.
A Palestinian activist from another university was threatened with arrest and a lifetime ban from entering the UTS if she did not leave immediately. She was selling tickets for a fundraiser to be held at another university for a Palestinian relief fund.
The anti-war students refused to leave and went ahead with the speak-out an hour later.
