Anti-intervention book launched

On February 9, around 70 people attended the book launch of Will They be Heard.

The book is a shorter version of a report released last year by a group concerned about the effect of the Northern Territory intervention on Indigenous communities. It contains many interviews with Indigenous people from several remote communities affected by the intervention.

The forum was addressed by Irene Fisher, chief executive officer at Sunrise Health Service, which services 10 remote indigenous communities in WA.

Fisher said: "The majority of indigenous people in the Northern Territory do not support the intervention … The money has … flowed to bureaucrats and the oldest living culture in the world is in danger of being destroyed."
