We have just three months left to raise $135,228 if we are to make our 2010 fighting fund target of $300,000.
This may seem like an impossible task but it isn't. Our supporters have raised $164,772 this year. We know we have the support out there to raise the rest.
Of course, these amounts are just spare change to the corporate fat cats who were partying at the Forbes Global CEO Conference in Sydney last week, but Green Left Weekly readers and supporters have had to work hard to raise that amount for the fighting fund.
$60,675 was raised through a range of fundraising events organised by supporters around the country. These included dinners, cultural events and jumble sales. Thanks to all our supporters who have taken part and supported these events.
We know our supporters will continue to support future events. But why not organise a GLW fundraising event of your own? This could be anything from a modest cake stall to a benefit concert. You can contact the nearest activist centre (see page 2) for ideas and assistance.
$12,184 of money raised has been in the form of one-off donations. But the great bulk of the money we have has come from supporters who pledge regular amounts throughout the year to keep this important project going.
These pledges have brought in $91,913 this year, or 56% of the money raised so far.
Please give us a call (or write us a letter) if you want to pledge a regular amount to GLW. Even $10 or $20 a month makes a big difference.
