ADELAIDE — About 20 people attended a meeting organised by Resistance on September 14 to hear Alan De La Cruz from the League of Filipino Students. HOBART — Environmental activists entered the treasury building on September 16 to hand protest letters to Labor cabinet members who were discussing resource security legislation. Told they could not interrupt the meeting, the protesters refused to leave until the letters were handed over. When the politicians finally emerged from their meeting, they had little to say on the issue.
- "Resource security hacking away at democracy" read a banner that was suddenly raised in the visitors' gallery in state parliament on September 18. The slogan drew attention to the fact that the notoriously conservative upper house would gain power over Tasmania's forests if resource security legislation were to pass through parliament. Question time was immediately suspended. The 25 protesters were escorted from the building by the cop on duty.
- About 20 Environmental Youth Alliance activists hung banners reading "More public transport" and "Less cars = less greenhouse" from a bridge over Hobart's busy Brooker Highway on September 13. On the median strip, a "possum" wearing a gas mask peddled furiously on an exercise bike to press the group's point. The action drew honks of support from passing motorists, and the thumbs up from bus drivers.

- The court case to save the old growth forests at Chaelundi from logging is over, and campaigners are awaiting the decision of Judge Stein from the Land and Environment Court. "There's no-one in the forest, and that suits us fine; the forest needs a rest."
