Tens of thousands of people have turned out for Invasion Day protests around the country, an indication of the shift in attitude towards the racist celebration of "Australia Day".

In Sydney, an overwhelmingly young crowd of some 10,000 people protested at Djarrbarrgalli (Sydney Domain), despite NSW Police threatening to issue fines.

Thousands turned out to Melbourne's (Naarm) protest where they marched from Parliament House to the Flinders Street intersection.

Adelaide reported one of its largest ever protests, as did Hobart with some 7000 people gathering. Hundreds marched in Darwin and Newcastle.

Up to 10,000 people protested in Meanjin/Brisbane to #AbolishAustraliaDay, reinforcing the growing numbers turning out to make a statement.
